Millennium Falcon: The Ship That Made the Kessel Run
She may not look like much, but she's got it where it counts—the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy.
The Millennium Falcon is more than a ship—she's a legend. This heavily modified YT-1300 light freighter has saved the galaxy more times than any capital ship, despite her temperamental hyperdrive and constant need for repairs.
Originally a Corellian Engineering Corporation stock freighter, the Falcon was transformed by a series of owners, most notably Lando Calrissian and Han Solo. Her modifications include military-grade deflector shields, hidden smuggling compartments, quad laser cannons, illegal sensor masking, and a souped-up hyperdrive that allowed Han to make the Kessel Run in less than twelve parsecs—by skimming dangerously close to the Maw black hole cluster, cutting the distance.
Under Solo's ownership, the Falcon became central to the Rebellion's greatest victories: rescuing Princess Leia from the Death Star, destroying the Death Star II at Endor, and leading the assault on Starkiller Base decades later. Rey and Finn would later use her to escape Jakku, continuing her legacy.
The Falcon's circular design and forward-offset cockpit make her instantly recognizable. Her battered exterior hides a vessel capable of outrunning Imperial Star Destroyers and surviving asteroid fields that would shred other ships.
Han Solo loved her like a person, and Chewbacca maintained her with patience and pride. Lando called her the finest ship in the fleet. They were all right.
**Fun Fact:** The Falcon's design was inspired by a hamburger with an olive on the side (representing the cockpit).
