The battle unfolded on three fronts: the ground assault on Endor's forest moon to disable the Death Star's shield generator, the space battle between the Rebel fleet and the Imperial Navy, and Luke Skywalker's confrontation with Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine aboard the battle station itself.
General Lando Calrissian led the starfighter assault into the Death Star's superstructure in the Millennium Falcon, destroying the reactor core in a desperate run through narrow corridors while the station's defenses collapsed around him. Admiral Ackbar commanded the Mon Calamari cruisers in a brutal slugging match against Star Destroyers, buying time for the ground team.
On the forest moon, Han Solo, Princess Leia, and a strike team—aided by the native Ewoks—overcame impossible odds to destroy the shield generator bunker. But the true victory came when Vader, witnessing his son being tortured by Palpatine's Force lightning, finally chose love over power and destroyed the Emperor.
