Naboo: Planet of Peace and Beauty

A world of lush plains and underwater cities—the birthplace of Padmé Amidala and Emperor Palpatine.

Naboo is a paradox—a planet of stunning natural beauty and enlightened culture that somehow produced both Senator Padmé Amidala, champion of democracy, and Emperor Palpatine, architect of tyranny. Its lush grasslands, waterfalls, and elegant architecture stand as monuments to pacifism and refinement in a galaxy often defined by war.

The human Naboo live in harmony with the native Gungans, though this peace was hard-won. The humans built grand cities like Theed, with its domed palaces and philosophical traditions of service and compassion. The Gungans engineered underwater cities in the planet's core using plasma-based technology, creating bubble cities that shimmer beneath the surface.

Naboo's defining moment came when the Trade Federation invaded, seeking to force Queen Amidala to sign a treaty legitimizing their occupation. The young queen escaped, forged an alliance between humans and Gungans, and liberated her world through courage and diplomacy. The Battle of Naboo proved that even a peaceful planet could defend itself when unity replaced division.

Palpatine, born on Naboo as a senator's son, used his homeworld as a springboard to galactic power—yet never cared for it. In contrast, Padmé loved Naboo until her death, retiring to its lake country for her final days. The planet represents both the best and worst of what civilization can produce.
